On Wednesday, September 14, 2016, Konawaena’s AVID classes throughout the grade levels spent the day helping Tina Alcain’s agriculture classes do work on the farm. Half of the group split off and cleaned up the school garden, while the other group went to the pastures behind the farm to pull weeds. This day of community service was organized between Alcain and Kumu Kaehuaea.

When it was lunch time, the AVID classes also participated in the 12-Minute Walk-Run Challenge to show support score some of the free t-shirts that students earned for participating. After the challenge was over, the students and teacher went back up to the agriculture area to spend the rest of the day working on the school garden as an entire group. The classes put a lot effort into repairing the school garden and bonded under the sun for a day.
