Konawaena’s first ever Halloween-themed dance, the Monster Mash Bash, was held on October 28th, 2016, in the main quad at Konawaena High School. The initial purpose of this dance was to begin the junior class’s year with a fun fundraiser, as well as putting on a magnificent event for the rest of the school to enjoy before Halloween rolled around on Monday.

The celebration consisted of thrilling games, some of which were a mummy wrap, musical chairs, donut on a string, and so much more. The bash also included a haunted Hallway, I literally almost peed myself when I walked into the hallway the kids from the drama club did a fantastic job!” Student, Eloisa Defarias. The Junior class also made a little piece of history by crowning the first ever Pumpkin King and Queen of Konawaena, as well as a prince and princess. Stella Strom and Nathan were crowned as the king and queen, while Raynell Reyes and Zerrick Wyler were crowned the dance’s prince and princess.

Students from all corners came to the dance, embellished in unique costumes, and had a spine tingling experience! This dance definitely could not have happened without the help of DJ and Emcee Maianna Taylor, the idea and donations from Raynell Reyes, the undying support from Junior Class Advisor Michelle Obregon, and the volunteers that helped make and put up the decorations! The Halloween Monster Mash Bash may make it’s way around again next year, and hopefully, more people will buy tickets to have a groovy evening.
