As of late, Starbucks’ newest sensation hit the stands, and its sale was restricted to just five days. On the Big Island, most Starbucks stores sold out of the drink on the first day, and purple, pink, and teal powder was everywhere. Titled the “unicorn frappuccino,” it encompassed a multitude of flavors, some of which contained mango and bubble gum, along with a not-so-special twist at the end.

As soon as I heard about this supposedly “flavor-tastic” drink, I was ready to hop in a car and head on over to the nearest Starbucks. My first sip could be described as sweet and a truly wild experience for my tastebuds, and I can honestly say that I expected to genuinely enjoy the drink. Then, the happy moment ended as quick as it came, and suddenly all I could taste was this horrendous sour flavor. At that moment, the experience stopped being so magical.

I’m actually glad the drink has disappeared into the oblivion, and it’s as nonexistent as it’s mythical creature counterpart.

However, despite my opinion being as bitter as the drink experience was… others actually love the drink! Grace Branham, Class of 2019, says the sour taste was what made the drink even better than it already was.
