Spectators at Friday nights varsity football game witnessed the Konawaena Wildcats win another BIIF Div II title, the fourth in five years! Final score, 44 to 21 over Kamehameha. Before the compelling game on Friday, Athletic Director William Trumbo said ” I am absolutely proud of this years Football players, they’re good leaders and they’re prominent in the classrooms. I believe they have achieved a lot and, and as of now  Konawaena is ranked Number 3 in the state, this Friday they will be playing against Kamehameha school. Unfortunately Konawaena has a disadvantage over them, at Kamehameha’s home game Konawaena was defeated, but… we do have a slight advantage they’re coming into our Jungle! “

Recent statistics have shown that Konawaena and Kamehameha both have significant seasons, Konawaena: 9-1 Kamehameha: 8-2. “If Konawaena wins, great, we advance but if we lose congrats to Kamehameha school” -Trumbo.  Some honorable players that stand out to him this year are Cameron Howes, Austin Ewing, Dalon Freitas, & Zach Kaiwi. Moving on to something that spread like wildfire both in the newspaper and social media was a recent post of a few football players from Honoka’a flipping the spirit finger to our football team and making an unfortunate decision of posting it to social media. “Win or lose, they’re suppose to show good sportsmanship, and what they did was disrespectful, social media can be used for good things, but it can also be demeaning and it can cause problems”  said Trumbo.
